10th July 2009: Word of the day

Here’s what I’m going to do; everyday, I’ll post up a new Chinese word (or phrase), and study the meaning and the usage of the word with some examples of sentences.

Of course, I’m only just learning too, so my examples may be a little simple. Bear with me, and learn with me, if you wish. =)

Here’s today’s Word of the Day:

今天的字:

干 (gan1) = dry, involve, empty, in vain, futile… (apparently this word has a lot of meanings, but we’ll stick to the basics).

1。不干你事!(bu gan ni shi)  = None of your business! / Nothing to do with you!

2。我们今天吃干肉。(wo men jin tian chi gan rou) = We ate some dried meat today.

3. 你的房子很干净哦!(ni de fang zi hen gan jing) = Your room is very clean!

There are many more meanings for this word, but I think this is enough for now. Happy Learning!
